Vaginal Tightening

A woman’s vagina becomes more loose as time goes on. Between vaginal intercourse, bearing children, and the simple natural process of aging, vaginal walls become less rigid and the opening becomes less tight. Women commonly experience less pleasurable sex or disappointment with their body as their vagina’s become less tight. For women that would prefer a tighter vagina, a vaginal tightening procedure, performed in Toronto by Dr. Chivers, can restore the natural tightness that existed earlier in life.

The Procedure

Vaginal tightening, known in medical terminology as vaginoplasty, is often confused with labiaplasty. While both procedures are performed on the vagina and nearby tissue, the former exists to tighten the interior of the vagina while the latter exists to alter the external appearance of the vagina. Both procedures can be, and often are, performed at the same time, but they are decidedly different surgical procedures.
During vaginal tightening, the vagina is tightened by removing excess vaginal lining and tightening the muscles of the vagina. This may result in minor external changes of appearance in the vagina, but primarily offers minimal changes in appearance. However, it does result in a vagina that is stronger, has firmer walls, and grips more tightly. Normally after this procedure women experience more satisfying sexual stimulation of their vagina due to increased sensitivity in the area.

Candidates for vaginal tightening are women who are in relatively good health. Furthermore, women are more likely to be candidates as they increase in age, though even young women may be strong candidates if they have already born a child. In general, candidates can be described by one or more of the following:

  • Women who have given child birth multiple times
  • Women whose vaginal muscles have not contracted after childbirth
  • Women who have difficulty keeping tampons inside their vagina
  • Women who have tissue extruding from their vagina
  • Women who have had partners frequently slip out during intercourse
  • Women who have reduced sensitivity in their vagina
  • Women who have difficulty being stimulated during vaginal intercourse

Even if none of these describe you, if you feel that your vagina is not tight enough and this interferes with your ability to enjoy a healthy and pleasurable life, schedule a consultation with Dr. Chivers. He will determine your eligibility for this procedure and determine how to best improve your life.

The full recovery process takes roughly six weeks, during which time you should not engage in strenuous physical activity or sexual intercourse. Furthermore, you should expect to be unable to return to work for about 3-5 days after the procedure, depending on the exact nature of your work. You will also experience modest pain and bruising during this time. Other than work, you should avoid even most light activity for about 2-3 weeks. If you have any questions or concerns during the recovery process, the staff at the Canadian Plastic Surgery Centre is always available to provide assistance.
